Dinosaurs


Over 225 million years ago, before there were people, a creature about the size of a chicken walked through the forests of what is now South America. This creature ran on two strong legs and had sharp claws on its hands and feet. It had a long snout filled with small, sharp teeth. It was quick, and a very effective hunter. This was the first dinosaur and smallest dinosaur. Within about 30 million years dinosaurs became the dominant land creatures in every corner of the Earth. Dinosaurs ruled for more than 160 million years during the Mesozoic Era, but mysteriously went extinct 65 million years ago. They were the fastest, most ferocious creatures to ever walk on earth. Palentologists continue to study their fossils to learn about the amazing world of dinosaurs.
