This site was designed to help fourth grade students (and higher) to learn facts about the planets.


Our solar system is made up of nine different planets. With so many planets it can be hard to keep them all straight! Before you learn about each of the planets individually, first learn their names and their correct order from the sun. To do this create a mnemonic phrase such as the following:

My Very Eager Mother Just Served Us Nine Pizzas

This is a mnemonic phrase because the first letter of each word is the same as the first letter of each planet.

Mercury Venus Earth Mars Jupiter Saturn Uranus Neptune Pluto

See! Here's another one:

My Very Excellent Mother Just Sent Us Nine Pizzas

Now it's your turn. Make up your own mnemonic phrase or use one of these to help you remember the planets and their order in the solar system. Once you've done this your ready to go on.
