Latest update to this document: 27 February 2003

When adding three numbers together using the Traditional algorithm, Numbers are added together from right to left.
The right column, or the one's digit column, is added first.
If the sum in the one's digit is carried over into the ten's.
The ten's digit column or the left column is then added together to find the sum.

1
5
+ 1 0
1 5
_______
3 0

The numbers in the one's digit column, the right column, add up 10.
The 1 is then carried over to the ten's digit column.
The sum for the tens digit column is 3.
The sum to the addition problem is 30.

Now that you have seen you have seen how to add numbers using the traditional algorithm.
