Not everyone lives by an ocean. Many people don't even live by a lake. When learning about oceans, lakes, or other environmental things it is nice if we can see what we are talking about. Many people have seen pictures of the oceans or lakes but haven't had the chance to be near them. Here we will make our own "Ocean In A Bottle". With the "Ocean In A Bottle" we can see what the waves might look like in a real ocean.
Making an ocean can be easy. Kids ages 5 to high school could make them. To make your own "Ocean" you need a few things. The most important is permission from an adult. You might also need some help from the adult too. Here is a list of the other materials we need to begin:
- A clean, clear pop bottle with the label taken off, any size will work
- Water
- Mineral or baby oil
- Funnel-This is used to make sure we don't create a mess when pouring the liquid into the bottle.
- Blue food coloring
- Some tape or glue to make sure the bottle doesn't leak when we are done. An adult may have to help with this.
