Math Goodies

This site has three sections for the student, parent or the teacher. Since this is my page for teacher resources I paid the most attention to that section. The page offers links to lesson plans and ideas, articles about math education, software programs, discounted math textbooks, and many word search puzzles you can create.

A+ Math

This site offered a homework helper. The homework helper allows you to imput your problem and then your answer and the computer will see if it is correct. The game room offers a variety of games you can play. You can play concentration by practicing basic multiplication facts for example. The worksheets give you an opportunity to practice your math skills. Finally last but not least this sight offers flashcards. As a teacher I could use this page as a reference or I can let my kids know about so they could use it.

Learn Math: Play Games

This site is a little bit different from the others. It was set up by Arkadii Slinko a mathematician who works at a university in New Zealand. On this site are many links to free and/or useful software for math games. He covers games options from the preschool ages all the way through to high school. As a teacher you could use this page to find games that match the content you are teaching and make learning a more enjoyable experience.

This site is great! It offers links to current events such as the on going debate of war on Iraq. Maps of different places in the world. It offers timelines that give both U.S. and World History a time context. It has information on the U.S. government and how it is run. There is a link to different holidays celebrated in different parts of the world. It offers and link with insight into different cultures and so much more. I think it would be a very useful sight.Go see for yourself what it has to offer.

MISCELLANEOUS LINKS

The Little Red School House

The Little Red School House is what this site is called and that's what it is. It has everything from a teacher's lounge and counselor's corner to a computer room and poet's corner. Each of these links within the school house bring you to another page with more specific links that lead you to lesson plans, professional advice, games, ideas and a whole lot more. In the 2nd Grade classroom link in the school I found a link to Dr. Seuss sites. As a lower elementary teacher I thought it would be fun to go to this site and get some ideas and activities to go all with these crazy children's books. The site appears to be both fun and useful.

Life Skills for Kids

This site is a little different it offers resources on how to build good character in your students. It offers a link to a newsletter about the site. A link to lesson plans that would incorporate these skills into your students. It also offers a link to health and life skills resources. Your student's all around well-being has a strong impact on how they learn; that's why I chose to include this site as a reference.

Easing the Teasing

This site addresses a concern we all will face as teacher's. The harmful teasing done to some kids by others. This site gives students and parents strategies that will help kids deal with teasing. It even offers an activity book and programs for the teacher, parent or child who find themselves in this kind of situation. We want our children to learn and they will have a hard time doing this if they are being teased.
