How to Find Area of Shapes on a Geoboard
Latest update to this document: 5 December 2002
This Power Point presentation is designed for a variety of different ages, but probably mostly upper elementary students would benefit best from this lesson. In the Power Point presentation, there are links that a student may go to to find more information about area on geoboards. Also, at the very end of the presentation, I have included a link to a page in which one can work with an interactive geoboard at the end of the slide show.
Here are a few links to teacher resources:
This is an activity that is in PDF format. A teacher would read the book Mary Wore a Red Dress and then the students would construct articles of clothing for Mary on their geoboard using various shapes.
This is a lesson plan geared towards sixth graders.
This site has just some basic activities that a teacher could do with his/her students.
