Welcome Aboard: Author's Introduction

In thinking about this tutorial, I thought about topics that some students may find useful. One of my thoughts examined a topic in Microsoft Access. Not only can you do tables, forms, reports and macros in Access, but also queries. A query is a question to the database. You can ask hundreds of questions to a database. But what about asking the user to enter in something? How is that done? Entering a set of parameter's for the user to enter would make each query more unique. That's when the tutorial idea came along.

Section A: Tutorial Objective

The objective of this tutorial is to take you through the steps for creating and reporting on the results from queries. You will learn Parameter Queries in this tutorial.

How To

In the tutorial, we are a rental video store. We keep lists on what videos we have in our inventory. Your boss has asked you to produce a query from a table that would highlight all the "PG" movies in our store. He wants the system to give a prompt so he can enter in this rating.

The tutorial includes the tutorial definition, a PowerPoint presentation, handouts, and related links for further study. The link below is a pdf file for instructions about the tutorial and a definition of a query.
