Description of Sub Hunt
The computer randomly places a sub on a ten by ten grid.
You enter x and y coordinates.
The computer will tell you if you hit the sub.
If you missed, the computer will tell you how far off you are.
Enter another set of coordinates. Keep improving your choice of coordinates
until you find the sub.
Value of Game
This is a problem solving game using a coordinate grid. The student
can use sucessively advanced strategies until reaching an ultimate
mathematical strategy which will guarantee finding the sub on the third shot.
Use of Game
This game can be used as part of a coordinate system lesson. It can be used
to develop different problem solving strategies. It can be used to practice the
concept of distance on a coordinate plane.
