Readings will be assigned using the library and/or Internet.

Basic Philosophy and content for the course:

The course will emphasize a hands-on development of skills with
computers and a collaborative learning approach to applying
computers to instruction. Students will use computers
both to learn and to demonstrate the learning.

Students will perform at all levels of Bloom's Taxonomy.

Technology:

All students will use e-mail. The account will be provided.
Information will be sent to the students by e-mail. Students will
be expected to communicate with each other and the instructor by
e-mail.

A complete and up-to-date syllabus, list of assignments and
exercises, and other information related directly to the class will
be available on a WWW page on the instructor's WWW server.

All students in the class will participate in a mail group
specifically designed for this class on the internet.

All students will use the internet.

All students will use specified applications on computers.

Students will use word processing and other programs on
microcomputers to complete assignments. The reports MUST
be able to be read using the computer on the instructor's desk.

Assignments:

In-class exercises and out-of-class exercises will be assigned on
a regular basis. It is expected that students will complete all
assigned homework exercises. Reading assignments will be made, and
it is very important to complete them. There will be in-class
discussion, hands-on individual work and group work. Participation
is required. Assignments will also be made which will require writing. Reports will be turned in electronically using e-mail,
the WWW, and the instructor's drop box on the local network.
There may be projects/exercises which will be completed by groups
with only one report for the group, projects which require group
problem solving with individual reports, and projects and reports
which are independent.

The absolute deadline for all material to be turned in or completed
is noon of the last class day.

Attendance:

Attendance is required.

Grading:

Exams

There will be no written exams

Points

Points are cumulative for all class activities.

Performance in class and performance on the exercises and projects
will determine the grade in the class. There will be no exams, but
performance will be evaluated. The exercises/projects/reports must
be completed (this implies quality) and submitted for a passing
grade. There will be a "participation" grade included in
determining the final grade for each student.

The final grade will take into consideration change in knowledge
etc., absolute level of knowledge etc. at the end of the class, and
performance in the class.

Final

There will be no written final exam in the traditional sense.

DISABILITY:

If you have a need for disability-related accomodations or services, please inform the Coordinator of Disability Services in the Disability Services Office at 405 Cohodas (phone: 227-1550). Reasonable and effective accomodations and services will be provided to students if requests are made in a timely manner, with appropriate documentation, in accordance with federal, state, and university guidelines.
