The Penny

|

Each penny is worth one cent. It is a tiny amount. When it is written out it can look like this " $0.01". Now to count money, it is just like adding. For example you know that one plus two is three. It is the same idea. One CENT plus two CENTS equals three CENTS.

$0.01 + $0.02 = $0.03

So what does ten cents look like when written out? There are always two places after the decimal period. So ten cents looks like "$0.10". And 100 cents look like "$1.00". So when you add cents it is the same as grouping and adding all the cents together.
