When finding the area of a circle you have to use "pi". What is "pi" and where does it come from? The value of "pi" has been calculated to be 3.14. Where did that value come from? What happens if you take the circumference of a circle and divide it by the diameter of your circle? Try it and see. Did you come out with a very long number? It may look like, 3.14159265359. Round it to the nearest tenth. The tenth position is two places to the right of the decimal point. Are you close to 3.14? If your values are accurate and you calculated right you should be very close to 3.14. This is how you can calculate the value of "pi". How can we use this new knowledge?
